I am currently cleansing. Yup, I am one of *those* people!
Why? You ask. Why would you want to do this? … Trust me I am asking myself the same damn thing. I’ve done a few crazy things these past few weeks. Things that make me question my sanity, like sign up for the Tough Mudder (this topic probably deserves a few posts of it’s own. Yup you read that right … a few!)
or
if you are one of *those* people, like me. You would ask …
Which one are you doing? … To that I answer Advocare‘s 24 Day Challenge. Then you would ask … Why that one? And I would respond because this is the one my trainer (the super awesome Jeremy Jackson) told me to do and many of the other women I work out with are doing it too. And No, I wouldn’t jump off a bridge if they did.
I’m loving it. Well, love is a really strong word, so let’s restate that as … I’m very glad that I’m doing it. It’s not about weightloss for me (although I could serve to lose a few pounds here and there, okay more than a few) though.

It’s about the challenge. The challenge in and of itself. Can I do this? Can I cut out my coffee intake and not drink wine for 10 days? HELL NO! But I’m doing it. The mental challenge and ability to do what I set my mind too can and will help to serve me in everything I do.

It’s about making life change that will stick (not the wine and coffee part, I enjoy those too much. Although the goal is to decrease my intake). Because this cleanse takes commitment, a 24 day commitment, a repetitive commitment that requires you to repeat the tasks of meal planning, meal prepping, scheduling meals, shopping for fresh and clean foods, and on and on … It will become routine. A routine that can carry past the 24 days originally agreed to.

It’s about camaraderie. I workout with awesome women who through their sheer example and dedication, push me to be better. We are doing this cleanse together. We are accountable to each other. We are supportive of each other. We are a team attempting to live a better live for our selves and our children.

It’s about fitness. I workout as often as I can (I didn’t used to be this way). Tuesday and Thursday mornings I workout at 5:30am. This is scheduled. This is important. I’ve chosen fitness as a focus and lifestyle. I’ve surrounded myself with people who support this choice and push me to a new level. When I am fit I am more productive. I am happier. I am better able to serve my family and those around me.
It’s about being better.
